Intermediate of pantoprazole sodium - Introduction
4-Chloro-3-methoxy-2-methylpyridine N-oxide (abbreviated CMPO) is an organic compound with the formula C8H10ClNO, which is a yellow crystalline powder.
CMPO has excellent compatibility, can be dissolved in water and organic solvents, and is stable under acidic conditions. It is a strong hydrophilic complexing agent that can form complexes with a series of metal ions, especially with radioactive actinides (such as lanthanides and actinides) complexes to form relatively stable complexes.
CMPO is mainly used for the separation and recovery of radioactive elements from heavy ionic liquid extraction processes. It can form complexes with metal ions together with organic solvents, and then realize the separation and extraction of radioactive elements by liquid-liquid extraction method. In addition, CMPO is also used in the field of solvent extraction and stable isotope separation in nuclear fuel reprocessing process.
The preparation method of CMPO is generally obtained by reacting 4-chloro-3-methoxy-2-methylpyridine and oxidizing hydrogen peroxide under alkaline conditions. The synthesis can be carried out in the laboratory.
Regarding safety information, CMPO is an organic compound and has certain toxicity. You need to pay attention to safety measures when using it. Wear protective glasses and gloves during operation to avoid direct contact with skin and inhalation of dust or gas. And stored in a cool, dry place, avoid contact with oxidants and strong acid and other substances. In case of accidental contact or inhalation, rinse immediately with plenty of water or perform necessary first aid treatment.
